The Program...
School Goals Work is a one-day professional development where teachers are taught – soup to nuts – the history and background of School Goals Work (goal setting, prioritization and time management). They will learn how it is currently used successfully in other professions – and how it can be successfully adapted to any classroom, any age group and any school. The program can be used anywhere from large classrooms to small self-contained classes and anywhere in between.
Staff will receive all materials along with detailed procedures for implementation. This will also include scripting for both students and families. Your faculty will be shown step-by-step how to seamlessly incorporate School Goals Work into your particular school culture and each individual classroom.
The rollout for School Goals Work is very important. Like any new program, you are looking to turn procedures into effective habits. This involves reinforcement from the start. Once students “get it”, the program runs itself. And so, in addition to the initial in-service, two full days of on-site support are included when I re-visit the school and meet with administrators, staff and even students. The result is to create a sense of urgency towards greater academic achievement which will in turn increase motivation for all.
School Goals Work can be started at any time during the first half of the school year, a time when students are beginning to accumulate grades and have a sense of anticipated progress. Likewise, teachers are getting a sense of the direction they will take their content and curriculum. Keep in mind, I will not advise any teacher on how to teach or structure their curriculum or syllabus. As a classroom management consultant, my job is to improve the operations of the classroom. I will evaluate current classroom processes and institute changes that will definitively increase both student and staff productivity while raising current standards.
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss the School Goals Work program to see how it can help move the needle forward on your students’ academic achievements and successes!
Best wishes, Dr. Michael Cubbin
